LIBRARY

Membership

                Admission to the Library is restricted to the students and Teaching and Non teaching staff of this college, but oth­ers who are desirous of consulting books in the library may do so with the permission of the Librarian or the staff member of the library. Before entering the library the members are requested to write their names, year of study, time of entering in the register kept for this purpose at the entrance.

Book issue system: Browne charging system (Card system; one card entails one book).

Members are eligible for borrowing books from the library as follows.

Loan Privilege

1.  Students                   -           2 Medical Books

2.  P.G Students            -            4 Medical Books

3.  Teaching staff           -           4 Medical Books

4.  Non-Teaching Staff  –           1 Book

Conditions of Loan

1.           The period of loan will be 15 days for students and one month for staffs.  Loan can be renewed for a further period of 15 days and 1 month respectively if other members do not require the books.  But not more than two consecutive renewals are permissible without the production of the book bor­rowed. An over due charge of 1 rupee per book per day shall be charged if the book is kept beyond the period of loan speci­fied above. Staff members should return/renew the book on or before the 15th March of every year.

2.           Books shall be issued from/ returned to the library at the time and in the manner notified by the library from time to time. Library time: 10 am to 5 pm.

3.           Loss of cards must be reported immediately to the librarian. A fine of Rs. 10 will be levied for each card lost. Members will be held responsible for all losses incurring from lost cards.

4.           Members against whom books are outstanding for more than three months shall not be entitled to borrow books until all books have been returned and all dues have been paid. If the retention of a book beyond a period of 6 months from the date of issue without any satisfactory explanation for doing so may lead to the cancellation of membership.

5.           Bound volumes and loose issued of Periodicals Ref­erence books etc are not issued on loan.

6.           Before leaving the library the member must satisfy himself as to whether the books lent to him her are in sound condition and if not he/she must immediately bring the matter to the notice of the librarian otherwise he/she shall be held re­sponsible for any damage discovered afterwards.

7.           Damage to or loss of books on loan should be imme­diately reported to the librarian   Members are liable to replace such books or pay the damage/cost of the book fixed by the librarian. If one volume of a set is damaged or lost the whole set may be required to be replaced.  No book will be issued to such members till the loss has been made good.   They are liable to pay overdue charges as per Rule 4{ii) in addition to the cost of the book up to the date on which the loss was exported, if the book reported as lost is later found our and returned then over­due charges will be levied from the due date

8.           A book, which is loan, may be reserved for borrowing by other members by requisition in writing.   The member con­cerned will be intimated as soon as the book is available for issue and he/she should take the book within five days from the date of issue of the intimation.   The book will not be kept re­served for him beyond this period.

9.           Members shall not sub-lend the books of the library.

Clearance Certificate/Non Liability Certificate

                The students should obtain a clearance certificate from the library, to the effect that they have returned all books and cleared all dues and produce the same to enable to get Hall ticket, Certificate and T.C. from the college.

The teaching and non-teaching staff should clear all library dues before their retirement or transfer and before entering on long leave exceeding one month.

Use of Library

1.              As the library is a place of individual study members are requested to observe strict silence in the library.

2.              Use of mobile phone inside the library is not permitted. Photography/videography inside the library is prohibited nor­mally, but special permission can be obtained.

3.              Smoking shall not be permitted within the library hall.

4.              Members are requested to operate with the librarian by observing the rules and for better use of the library, members can have help the staff.

 

Book Bank scheme

Book Bank scheme sponsored by Harijan Welfare De­partment, Govt. of Kerala to help students belong to SC/ST Cat­egory. Under this scheme a student can take books up to one month and if necessary it can be extended two more months.
