Dear Sir
As the
admissions for the Professional courses commencing
in 2011 have started, let me draw your attention,
once again, to the possibility of the new students
being harassed by the senior students. Such harassment,
in any form, that causes annoyance, hardship or
psychological harm, will constitute the menace
called 'ragging'. Apart from the physical and
psychological consequences of this cognizable
offence on the junior students, this practice,
as I am sure you will agree with me, is barbaric,
totally out of place and should be strictly curbed.
Institutional arrangements have to be made for
curbing the ragging. It is the collective responsibility
of authorities of the concerned institutions to
ensure that an effective system is in place to
prevent and redress grievances of ragging in their
institutions. I am therefore requesting you to
constitute an 'anti ragging committee' as per
the guidelines and directions of the Hon. Supreme
Court of India. The constitution of the committee,
its mode of functioning and the ways of redressing
grievances of the new students may please be forwarded
to the University, as well as displayed prominently
in the institution and on the website of your
institution.

treat this as urgent.
